Make rental applications work your way

🎉 You asked, we built it

You now have full control over how rental applications work inside MagicDoor.

Want to skip steps you don’t use?

Set how long drafts stay open? Pick which documents you actually care about? It’s all live under General Settings.

These updates are built to help you stay focused on serious applicants, not chase down half-finished forms or cluttered uploads.

🛠 What’s new?

Application Recency

You can decide how long an application stays marked as “new.” This helps keep your inbox clean and focused on recent activity.
Example: Set it to 2, and only applications from the last 2 days will be labeled as new.

Draft Expiration

Set a time limit for how long a draft stays open. After that, it gets locked, so you’re not left waiting indefinitely.
Example: Set it to 7; any draft older than 7 days becomes locked and uneditable.

Inactivity Reminders

MagicDoor can now automatically remind applicants if they leave a draft unfinished. No more chasing.
Example: Set it to 3, and we’ll send a reminder after 3 days of no updates.

Welcome Message

Add a short intro at the top of your application form. You can offer a tip or set expectations from the start.
Example: “This should take 5 minutes. Please have your documents ready.”

Disable Steps

Turn off parts of the application you don’t use. This helps simplify things for both you and your applicants.
Example: If you don’t need pet info or co-applicant fields, switch them off.

Documents

Choose exactly which files you want applicants to upload, and decide if each one is optional or required.
Example: Ask for proof of income and make a government ID optional.

How to try them out?

Head to Settings → General → Rental Application and adjust the flow to match how you work.

Cheers,

Kasper from MagicDoor.
