The first day of spring kicks off one of the busiest stretches in property management. Air filters need replacing, HVAC systems need inspecting before summer, exterior maintenance and curb appeal projects start going on the schedule, and property inspections pick back up after winter.

Most of that comes with a message you need to send to tenants, reminders about air filters, heads-up about upcoming inspections, landscaping schedules, or lease renewal timelines as leasing season ramps up.

MagicDoor's Announcements feature lets you write one message and send it to every tenant in your portfolio, a specific property, or even individual units and leases. Each tenant receives it as a regular text or email on their end, while you see it organized as an announcement in your dashboard.

Here's a quick walkthrough showing exactly how to send one:

💡 How it works

Go to Communications → Announcements in your left sidebar and click Add Announcement.

From there, you choose who receives it, tenants, owners, or vendors, and narrow it down by portfolio, property, unit, or lease. Write your message, attach any files if needed, preview it, and send.

Once sent, each tenant gets the message individually as a text or email.

On your side, the announcement logs the date, time, and every recipient, so you have a record of what was communicated and when.

Announcements worth sending this month

🌸 Air filter replacements: If your lease requires tenants to change filters, spring is a good time to send that reminder. Include a quick note on filter size or where to find it in their unit.

🌸 HVAC inspection schedule: Let tenants know when maintenance will be entering units to inspect or service AC systems before summer. Include dates and what to expect.

🌸 Exterior and landscaping work: If you're scheduling pressure washing, painting, or landscaping after winter, a quick heads-up helps tenants know about noise, parking changes, or access to common areas.

🌸 Property inspection notice: Spring inspections to check for winter damage are easier to coordinate when tenants get advance notice with dates and a brief explanation of what you're looking at.

You can also send announcements to owners, useful if you're sharing a spring maintenance plan, budget updates for seasonal work, or a summary of property conditions after winter.

If you've been sending these updates one-by-one through your personal email or phone, Announcements puts that into one step, with a log you can reference later if there's ever a question about what was communicated.
